What is Your Passion?

And How Do You Find It?

What makes you light up? What makes you smile when you stat talking about it? What do you catch yourself daydreaming about when you should be working at your job? What would you gladly get out of bed in the morning to go do for absolutely free?

It isn’t uncommon to think that their is more out there to life than where you are at and what your are doing. Chances are though, that thing you can’t stop thinking about that you would rather be exploring, is probably what you are passionate about it! I can bet that most people reading this are not passionate about their life. They feel like something is missing and are just going though the motions without any clue as to where they will end up.

For me it started years ago. Coming into work, working out when I got off, seeing friends and family, the weekly grocery shopping, treating myself to an unnecessary item at Target from time to time. It was all a routine that I felt had me getting nowhere. Of course anyone can argue that I could have worked harder and climbed up in my company, or took another position. But it wasn’t so much the different job I needed as it was to get more out of life other than what I was putting into my company, giving my boss, and mundanely going throw the motions of everyday life. I didn’t know what I was passionate about when I had this realization but I knew that what I was doing on the daily, did not light up my face up!

I can’t tell you exactly what to do or even the exact way on how to find your passion but I can tell you what I did that can help you possibly figure out your passions in life….

1. Read

Reading is an invite for the mind to wonder. I would suggest books that make you think about yourself and challenges you to take a really deep look inside of yourself. Pick authors who have best selling books. Choosing topics that you day dream about is a great start! They even publish books about how to find your passion. Trust me, I’ve read a TON! Engaging in good books will not only help your mind clear out what you are not passionate about, but will help start guiding you to what could possibly light your fire.

2. Get Healthy

We have all heard how beneficial exercise and eating well can be for our health. It’s hard to ignore all the health gurus on social media and the ever changing nutrition trends. They might be a bore to some but believe it or not these people are on to something. Amazing things start happening not only to your body but to your mind when you start getting healthy. With the right exercise and nutrition that you feed your body, you will have increased energy AND your brain will function better. This will tie into helping you find your passion because without an optimal functioning mind and body you simply cannot focus on what you love nor give it all you got!

BONUS ~ Try meditating for 10 mins a day for calmness and clarity

3. Take Out The Trash

I’m not talking about your overflowing bin the kitchen! I am referring to your cluttered life. As we seek out to find our passion it’s harder to do if we have unnecessary things weighing us down. Having an over abundance of stuff or toxic things in your life can keep you from exploring. For example, those toxic friends you may have…They Will Bring You Down! You don’t need their unmotivated lives keeping you from finding what makes you light up! Another example is getting rid of all that unnecessary stuff. Start by downsizing your items in your home. Decluttering and simplifying the environment you are most in, is an excellent thing to do if you need more focus on finding your passion. Having all that stuff gone will give you a inspiring boost to keep searching for your passion.

4. Turn Off Social Media

It’s a great time to be alive when we can find out pretty much anything on any subject at our fingertips. With this technology, we can also find out what everyone else is up to on the daily. Constantly scrolling through our social media apps looking at what our network is up to and how they are going about their lives isn’t healthy for us. Usually most people want to appear to be something they are not while online. In turn that makes us feel inadequate about our lives because we don’t have what they have. Can anyone say “The Joneses?” We can easily get caught up in this contest to try and live a better life online so we can look better than everyone else! This will EASILY take time away from you finding your passion. I don’t know the statistics of it, but I know we waste a TON of time in other peoples lives and their personal business instead of focusing on our own. Take a break from those apps and see if you find yourself getting more out of finding your passion.

BONUS ~ Try a 7 day challenge for yourself and see if you can stay off all social media apps for the entire week!

Finding your passion does not happen over night. Taking steps like the ones mentioned above will help you get more out of life if you are feeling as if something is missing. When you finally wake up and take a good look around and start to wonder if “this is it” then you have taken that first step to finding your passion in life!
